Road Safety Systems — A RoadGuard Company

Solar Structural Supports

Foundations, mounting systems, and structural components for solar energy field installations across New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and the broader Mid-Atlantic — a genuine RSS differentiator built on the same structural installation discipline we bring to highway safety infrastructure.

Solar Structural Supports is a newer addition to our service lineup, but it draws on the same structural installation discipline Road Safety Systems has long applied to highway safety infrastructure — precise foundation work, correct alignment and torque, and coordination with the other trades on a job site. We install foundations, mounting systems, and structural components for ground-mount solar field installations across New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and the broader Mid-Atlantic, with real project experience across New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland to date.

We are the structural contractor on a solar field project, not the module installer or electrical contractor — our scope covers what holds the array in the ground and at the correct alignment, working from the racking manufacturer's design package and pile schedule and coordinating closely with the civil site plan, module installation crews, and electrical trades that complete the project around our work.

How We Work

01

Consultation

We review the racking manufacturer design package, geotechnical report, and site plan to scope foundation, mounting, and structural component work.

02

Coordination

We coordinate our schedule with the civil site plan, grading, and the module and electrical crews that follow our scope.

03

Professional Installation

Foundations, racking, and structural components are installed and verified against the manufacturer's structural drawings and torque specifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Depending on the racking manufacturer's design and site soil conditions, we install driven steel pile, helical pile, or concrete pier foundations for ground-mount solar structural supports.

Foundation type is determined by the project's structural engineering and geotechnical investigation, together with the racking manufacturer's design requirements. We install per the approved pile schedule and layout for each site.

Our scope is the structural racking and mounting system that holds the modules — foundations, mounting systems, and structural components. Module installation and electrical work are typically performed by other trades on the project, and we coordinate our schedule with theirs.

We verify row alignment, tilt angle, and module clamp torque against the racking manufacturer's specification as each section is completed, since alignment affects both structural performance and the array's electrical output once modules are installed.

Beyond foundations and primary racking, ground-mount solar arrays typically require torque tubes, purlins, cross-bracing, and connection hardware that tie the rows together structurally. We install these components per the racking manufacturer's structural drawings.

Under-tightened connections or missing bracing at even a few locations can compromise the structural performance of an entire row under wind load. We verify these components against the manufacturer's torque specifications with the same attention we give to foundations and primary racking.
