What It's Like to Work Here

Highway safety infrastructure work is outdoor, physical, and precise. Our crews install guiderail, bridge rail, barriers, signage, fencing, and — increasingly — solar structural supports across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and the broader Mid-Atlantic and Connecticut region, often working near live traffic under DOT and turnpike authority traffic control plans. That means safety training, proper PPE, and attention to detail aren't optional extras — they're part of how every job gets done, every day.

Depending on the role, a typical week might involve driving posts and splicing rail on a highway shoulder, setting precast concrete barrier segments with a crane, installing overhead sign structures during a night lane closure, or assembling racking and foundations on a solar field site. Field crews work closely with foremen and project managers who coordinate directly with DOT inspectors and general contractors, so there's a real, visible connection between the work you do and the finished infrastructure the public relies on.

We hire people at every experience level — from entry-level crew positions where you'll learn the trade in the field, up through foreman and superintendent roles for people with a track record managing highway construction crews. Because we're backed by the RoadGuard family rather than operating as a small independent shop, there's a real path for advancement without having to leave the company to find it.

What to Expect When You Apply

Our hiring process is straightforward: submit an application through the link above, and a member of our team will follow up to discuss your experience and the specific role. For field positions, that conversation typically covers your relevant highway construction or fencing experience, equipment certifications you already hold, and availability for the crew schedule the role requires. For office and estimating roles, we focus on relevant industry background and familiarity with DOT bid and specification processes.

We hire across a range of experience levels, from entry-level laborers learning the trade to experienced foremen and estimators who bring years of highway safety or fencing industry background with them. If you don't see an open role that matches your background today, we still encourage you to reach out — crew needs shift with our project pipeline, and we keep applications on file for roles that open up later in the season.
